Planning Permission for Dudley Town Centre
Planning Approval was unanimously given by Dudley Council's planning committee on Tuesday 9th April. Deputy planning committee chairman, Councillor Jackie Cowell, said "I think this (development) will be a once in a lifetime opportunity to develop a significant town centre area. We should take this opportunity and encourage it."
The Portersfield scheme is a £82m mixed use regeneration scheme, located in the heart of Dudley Town Centre. The 12acre development site will include an exciting mix of retail, commercial, bars, restaurants, cinema, health club and residential facilities.
The Portersfield masterplan has been closely co-ordinated with designs for new Dudley bus station – ‘Dudley Interchange’ as well as the proposed Midland Metro tram line that is scheduled to link Dudley to the wider conurbation in 2022.
The scheme includes extensive infrastructure works including a new public realm space at the heart of the scheme linking Portersfield, Dudley Interchange and the wider town centre area.
